A Blue John chimneypiece in Italian statuary marble. This fireplace is a one-off piece in the Georgian style, using pale Siena marble. It is inlaid with difficult to source Blue John stone from Derbyshire. Blue John is a rare mineral, also known as the 'gem of the peaks'.
This Blue John chimneypiece features carved neoclassical urns and patera within the frieze panels.
The plaque features a beautiful framed specimen of Blue John, surrounded by stop flutes and flanked by inlaid silhouettes of urns.
We do not have a reproduction range and always try to make one-off pieces or source antiques wherever possible, as the materials and craftsmanship are of a superior quality to factory made pieces from most other sources. We hope this contemporary Blue John Chimneypiece will provide a very real alternative to an antique Blue John fireplace that would be considerably more expensive and use exactly the same materials (not to mention be extremely difficult to find).
